Tabassum Inamdar

Tabassum Inamdar is a long-time analyst of the banking and financial sector in India and Asia, and a more recent researcher of the impact sector.

Over the past 25 years, her passion for BFSI research has been fed by enriching stints in several companies – Goldman Sachs as Managing Director (co-head, India Research and co-head, Asian financials), as Director (BFSI Research) at UBS Securities and as Sr Equity Analyst (BFSI) at Kotak Securities and earlier at Jardine Fleming.

In February 2020, Tabassum was appointed a member of a Committee set up by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India on Development of a Concept Paper on Standalone Micro-Insurance Company. Since December 2019, she has been on the board of Franklin Templeton AMC India as an independent director and in September 2021, she joined the board of Pure Earth Blacksmith Institute, a US based non-profit organization. Prior to that, Tabassum served as an Independent Director on the board of Equitas Small Finance Bank (October 2016 to October 2021) and Zipsure (October 2018 to March 2020) – a new general insurance start-up.

In August 2016, Tabassum switched from equities research to impact sector research and has since published the following four reports:

    1. Vemo Sewa (May 2017): a report analyzing the insurance cooperative desiring to convert into full-fledged insurance company.
    2. CSR–Competent Social Responsibility (May 2019): a report analyzing the strategies adopted by large companies in India.
    3. CSR Review on Mahindra & Mahindra — analyzing M&M Ltd on the seven point frame-work and sharing experience from field visit.
    4. CSR Review on ITC Ltd, Setting an Example — analyzing ITC Ltd on the seven-point framework and discussing experience from field visits.
